What will you take with you from your reserve service in the CIHBw?

Captain Sandro: "Many exciting impressions about innovations, getting to know and appreciate great people and the good feeling of having served a really important mission: Empowering Innovation in Defense!"

Coporal Janette: "Definitely a lot of positive impressions and, above all, good and important experiences. Things run very differently in the CIHBw than I'm used to in the troops. Just working at eye level impressed me a lot. The Hublers have become like a family to me; you help and support each other, try out lots of new things and are always learning something new. Here you are also given the space and, of course, the opportunities. You are given responsibility, but also the trust and - if necessary - the support to implement your projects. Here you learn (also as a team member) to think and act in completely new dimensions."

What was a significant moment in your work (as RDL) at the hub?

Captain Sandro: "Participation in the MSC Innovation Night and the realization that we have to implement the turnaround even faster with everything we have - because enemy guns are not interested in supposed legal certainty!"

Corporal Janette: "My first OKR workshop. I had only been there for a short time and still had to get used to working in the hub environment. I was not yet familiar with terms related to OKR, such as "check-in", "alignment" or "wrap-up". The speed at which new projects are tackled in the Hub was also unfamiliar at first, because everything happens very quickly in the Hub. And then came this workshop, which made everything feel even more chaotic for me. But in the hub, you are allowed and encouraged to arrive in peace and get your bearings. In addition to the military personnel, the civilian employees were also my contacts at this time and guided me through these three days of the workshop. As a result, I got to know the Hublers better and, despite the hectic and stressful situation, everyone took the time to pick me up and give me a lift, which I greatly appreciate. It was clear to me: no one is left alone here, everyone is part of this extraordinary community. It really is a spirit that is second to none."

In your opinion, what sets the reserve service in the CIH apart from other military exercises?

Captain Sandro: "Many things - including the mega team and the special mission, where everyone can make a valuable contribution to a more effective and better Bundeswehr. The really exciting innovation projects, start-ups and events that make every day varied. And last but not least, the flexibility in terms of time and location on duty, which, in conjunction with very good IT equipment by Bundeswehr standards, enables highly productive work from day one."

Coporal Janette: "It's the challenges and the opportunities that an RDL in the CIHBw offers you. You can realize yourself; contribute your ideas, your visions. Here you have the space to be courageous and creative and, above all, the people who support you and take you and your ideas forward."

Please complete the sentence:
"For me, performing my reserve service in the CIHBw means ..."

Captain Sandro: "... questioning the status quo every day, rethinking as a team and having a lot of fun in my job!"

Corporal Janette: "... to make a statement and send out a clear signal. As a Hubler, I can show the troops what is possible and am part of a great crew that not only plans things theoretically at their desks, but also tackles things, implements them and thus achieves a change in many a dusty way of thinking and acting within the Bundeswehr. That makes me incredibly proud."
