The AFCEA in Bonn is one of the most important exhibitions for information technology in the field of defense. This year, the focus was on the question of how resilience and digital sovereignty can be strengthened using modern technologies. Another focus: innovation in defense.
Focus topic Software Defined Defense
Whether navy, army or special forces - our innovation projects MSDF, ACOP, Yarded, RAP and TrainAR are good examples to show how broad the application area of Software Defined Defense is.
Once again this year, the World Conference Center Bonn provided an opportunity for insights into current topics and for an exchange between the Bundeswehr and industry.
Our innovation projects, which we presented at this year's exhibition together with our users and intrapreneurs, met with lively interest from visitors.
Innovations for a resilient Bundeswehr
While Multi-Sensor Data Fusion fuses space data with underwater data in a seamless and digital situation picture and analyses the movements of ships, ACOP uses augmented reality to create a realistic, true-to-scale 3D visualization of the situation on the battlefield - which decision-makers can literally step into. TrainAR also uses augmented reality, in this case to improve the training of drivers. Yarded, on the other hand, automates deployment processes using an app - and RAP simplifies communication between special forces because the system can be used to transmit information “on the man - on the move”.
One fact is clear: without software and digitalized armed forces, there can be no modern defence capability. We are helping the Bundeswehr to create the necessary foundations for this.
