Great international interest in innovation projects at the NATO TIDE Sprint

Together with our colleagues from BWI GmbH, we were represented with two innovation projects at the NATO TIDE Sprint 2024 in Dresden at the end of March: "Yarded" and "Rollt!" are both projects that emerged as results of our Innovation Challenge Logistics.

"Rollt!", for example, is a digital solution for route and navigation calculation that combines existing logistics planning methods in one digital tool. And "Yarded" is also a very good example of software-defined defense in logistics. The software digitizes and automates existing processes for moving heavy military equipment and war material in the event of a crisis. We won the NATO Innovation Challenge last year with "Yarded". "International interest in 'Yarded' remains high," explains Christoph Ritschel, CIHBw Innovation Manager, adding: "We are delighted with the positive feedback on our innovation project. We have received further inquiries from partners in Dresden who would also like to test the software." An additional factor for the high demand is that dual-use technologies from civil logistics are currently in a "favorable field", as Christoph Ritschel points out.

The aim of this year's NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT) event was to jointly optimize NATO's capabilities and interoperability between the participating nations. Various presentations, workshops and brainstorming sessions brought together key players from the military, academia and industry to discuss the Alliance's most pressing technological challenges and innovation opportunities. This year, the focus was on cyberspace, AI, data-centric security, interoperability and logistics. "These were exciting days with many inspiring discussions, a lot of constructive input and exciting topics," concludes Fabian Kretschmer, Team Leader Innovation & Intrapreneurship.
